Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving, Brent and I went down to Ft. Worth to be with his family. It was an very enjoyable holiday. Great weather! Brent and I even spent some time out back on the porch swing.
The food was delicious! Brent's mom is an amazing cook! And here's Dad doing his masterful turkey carving.

It's been a while since we have been down to Ft. Worth, so it was a great chance to spend time with the family, which we love so much!

We Have Footings

They have put the footings down for our house. It was great yesterday, we got to go out there and walk around through the spaces, and could visualize it so much better! We met with the superintendent (who we love) and talked about yard and retaining walls and next steps. With as many delays as we have had, it has seemed like they would never actually build this house, but being able to see the basic layout of downstairs, it's starting to seem real again. How exciting!

Site Inspections

Yesterday afternoon, we went on some site inspections, which is always a nice break in this job. At least, when it is a beautiful day like it was yesterday.
Well, someone needs to call the OERB on this one, the storage tanks on their sides were are first clue that it's no longer producing. ;)

Chris was able verify that his 3 wells were pumping...well, one was actually being reworked. It was neat to see the rig out there. Karla found one that was clearly abandoned, and I found one, or actually didn't find one that was from the 40's and looks like it was probably abandoned a long time ago.
All in all a productive trip, except that we got the call last night that the client has pulled the plug on this project....so on to the next one.

They're Moving Dirt

After so many delays, we thought it would never happen, but they have finally started moving dirt on our land to build a pad for our house.
The pictures don't quite capture it, but they have the site about built, and they have now staked it out. The next thing that they need to do is put in retaining walls on each side of the hill, then they will be pouring the foundation.

Thunder's First Win

Couldn't let the Thunder's first win in team history go by without a short post. It was an exciting game on Sunday. Go Thunder!!!

B is for Baylor Homecoming

Well, it was Brent's turn to come up with an "Alphabet Activity." He tried to keep it a secret, but when the football game tickets came in the mail, I found him out. I was very excited to find out that B was for Baylor Homecoming.

We got to spend quite a bit of time on Friday and Saturday walking around campus, remembering fun times, and seeing how much things had changed. One of the many changes was the new Bear Habitat.

Homecoming was fun when we were in school, but they've kicked it up a notch. They had Friday night festivities in the Fountain Mall area, including a mini-carnival,...

a pep rally,...

and the traditional bonfire.

The game was a lot of fun, even though it was hot....high of 82. I remembered one of the things that I liked about Waco, the warm weather. You can go outside late at night during most of the year and be perfectly comfortable.

Unfortunately, we didn't win, but we came really close. It was an impressive performance against a nationally-ranked Missouri.

Overall, an awesome weekend! I even got a chance to sit in Judge Baylor's lap.
