Trip to Ixtapa

We just got back on Saturday from a week in Ixtapa, Mexico. We went with the kids, my mom, Toby, Karla and Athena, and had a great time! The kids loved the beach. My best friend warned me before we went that the kids would eat the sand, and not to worry about it. She said if I spent the whole week trying to stop them, I'd go crazy. Well, here's a video of Ashley eating sand by the handful. Luckily, she didn't quite eat it like this on most days. And here is Tyler doing what he loved most, playing with the sand toys.

Spring Break

Last Spring Break, we went to Ixtapa, Mexico with my mom, Toby and Karla. That is where we found out we were expecting. It was such a wonderful time, and I wanted to get something for the baby (or babies). We knew that we had a chance of twins, so we wanted to get two of something, knowing that if we just had one, of course, they would just have two outfits. We tried to look for gender neutral colors, which wasn't that easy, but my mom and I saw these onesies, and thought they were perfect.
Well, when my mom was on Spring Break this year, I, of course, had to dress the little ones in them. Wow! What a difference a year makes!

Seeing them in these little outfits brought back a flood of memories of the excitement of finding out I was pregnant and the early stages of planning for these two little peanuts. What a wonderful Spring Break...both last year and this.

Trip to Mexico - Part IV

We spent a couple nights on the beach, watching the sunset. That's one of the things that makes the Pacific side of Mexico so great. It's tough to beat the sun setting over the ocean.

Some the flowers were gorgeous. I had to try to get a picture of this long row of bugambilias. It doesn't quite do them justice, but you get the idea.

Here we are right before we got in the taxi to go to the airport to fly home. I want to go back!

Trip to Mexico - Part III

One of our favorite meals in Mexico was at a restaurant in Zihuatanejo, called La Cala, which means, the cove. The tables overlook a gorgeous cove where the waves crash against the rocks.
Karla and I set on the end of the table, and we were literally less than a foot from the wall that drops down to the cove.

I had shrimp tortilla soup and scallop pasta that were amazing, and you can't beat the sound of waves crashing during dinner.

Toby and Brent decided to build a sand castle one day. I think their effort was pretty impressive.

It lasted all day, but the nighttime waves eventually washed it away.

Trip to Mexico - Part II

Most of the second day in Mexico was spent lying on the beach...you can't beat it!
After Brent and Toby arrived, we went out to a wonderful dinner at Villa de la Selva, which had an amazing view, and delicious food.

We had a wonderful time, even though as you can see from this picture, I had already managed to get a bit of a sunburn the first day. It turns out that sunscreen works, but only on the places that you put it on. ;)

We were there for a gorgeous sunset. You can't beat a delicious meal with a view of the sun setting over the ocean.

Trip to Mexico - Part I

We just returned from a wonderful, relaxing trip to Ixtapa, Mexico. We went with my mom, Toby and Karla, staying at my mom's condo. This is the view from the balcony of the condo...beautiful.
Mom, Karla and I flew in on Saturday, while the boys stayed in Oklahoma City to watch the end of the Big 12 tournament, and met up with us on Sunday. We had a nice day with just the girls. Here is mom and Karla at our first night's dinner. We went to mom's traditional first night place - La Hacienda de Ixtapa.

The condos are built on a hill, so they have a gondola ride down to the beach...fun in and of itself.

Here's a pic of mom as we rode down the gondola, heading to a relaxing day on the beach.
More to come...
