Front Door, Concrete for the Pool, etc...

It's been a while since I've posted any progress on the house, but this is kind of the slow time. However, here are some of the changes. They put in the front door, which was a splurge that we absolutely love.
We also discovered a feature that we love that we didn't even know about, the inside glass has little latches that you can unhook and open, so that you can let the breeze in. How fun!

They have delivered the brick. You can't really tell from the picture, but this brick is atrocious. It's going to be covered in stucco, but before it is, I'm sure there will be a lot of angry and scared neighbors.

They also have the sheet rock laying around in side. That will be one of the next big transformations to see the walls sheet rocked.

I couldn't get a good pic of the full pool from up on the balcony, but this is most of it. On the right is the spa, raised about 18 inches above the rest of the pool. Then, we have a little tanning deck, then on to the shallow in. You can kind of see on the left, we are having a portion of the pool with a negative edge that will flow over a rock wall on the other side into a basin, and we will have another little patio over there. I can't wait to swim in this thing!

Windows and Doors

They have put in all our windows and outside doors, except the front one. The front door is on order, and may go in this week.

We love the back of the house the most. We wanted a lot of windows in this house, and we sure got them.

Brent - enjoying our balcony.

The next step is the roof tiles, which might start as early as this week. Can't wait!

House Progress

Additional progress has been made on the house, and it is so neat to see it take shape. This is the back of the house. Brent is standing on the back balcony. The windows in the middle all look into the great room. On the right is the master bedroom. On the left, the first story is our breakfast room, and the second floor is a bedroom.

They have the windows sitting in the house now, and they will be going in soon.

We went today to do our granite, tile and carpet picks, along with finalizing a few other things with Richardson. It was a bit overwhelming, but we are really happy with our picks...we think.

The Second Floor

The have completed the floor on our entire second story, and most of the walls. It is so cool to see things take shape!
Here is a picture of Brent and I on the walkway that will overlook the entry and the great room. Karla took this one from our back balcony.

We can't wait to get out there again. These pics were taken Christmas day, but some of the roof trusses are supposed to be up by now.

Framing the House

They have started the framing on our house, and it is so exciting to see it take shape! This pic is taken from the front. It's a little hard to see because of the back lighting, but the left is the library. The two big windows in the middle will be in our stairwell. The front door is to the right of that, and the dining room to the right of that.

This is the back of the house. The octagon shape of the right is the master bedroom, and to the left of it is the great room, which will eventually be two stories.

They are starting on the second floor.
We really can't believe this is going to be our house!

We Have Footings

They have put the footings down for our house. It was great yesterday, we got to go out there and walk around through the spaces, and could visualize it so much better! We met with the superintendent (who we love) and talked about yard and retaining walls and next steps. With as many delays as we have had, it has seemed like they would never actually build this house, but being able to see the basic layout of downstairs, it's starting to seem real again. How exciting!

They're Moving Dirt

After so many delays, we thought it would never happen, but they have finally started moving dirt on our land to build a pad for our house.
The pictures don't quite capture it, but they have the site about built, and they have now staked it out. The next thing that they need to do is put in retaining walls on each side of the hill, then they will be pouring the foundation.

Finally...we closed on our land

We were finally able to close on our land yesterday. It was starting to feel like the day would never come. The builder is supposed to have a dozer out on Monday to start moving dirt. I'm so excited! I'll definately be posting pictures as the process progresses, but they are saying 10-11 months to complete. We are looking more for a year. Still, we are so excited to get started!

Our Land (soon to be)

We are scheduled to close on our lot and construction loan next Friday, and we can't wait! We are so excited to start building. We love our house design, and we love the lot. You can see it in this pic. It's to the right of the road, and it goes down all the way to the creek (you can barely see the barriers on both sides of the road for the creek. It's 2.8 acres, wooded and in a really neat little neighborhood.

We love the trees, and here I am standing by one of the really big ones down by the creek. It's gigantic!!! We won't have to take out any of the big trees, and actually should be able to keep most of our smaller ones, too, because there is already a nice clearing where the house is going to go.

We also have dewberries, which makes me very happy!

This is a picture of the common area which is right across from us. It's a 14-acre common area which goes way back from hear, and it lined with gorgeous trees. Can't wait to move!
