Lace Dresses

My grandmother gave us these two lace dresses for Ashley and Athena. One was worn by my dad's cousin (the yellow one), and one by my cousin (the blue one). That makes them about 55 and 27 years old respectively. We had to get some pics while the girls still fit in them, so we put them on a blanket out in my mom's backyard last Wednesday, and my mom took some great pictures.

Me and My Daddy

That Special Twin Bond

Pool Party

I don't get to see Joe's kids that often, and we have been wanting to all get together for a while. My stepbrother and his wife were in town, so we all got together over at Pat's neighborhood pool. (Everyone was there except for Andrea and her family. They live in Georgia.)
It was the first time that the babies have gotten to go swimming in a "real" pool, and they really enjoyed it.
Xiomora, my stepbrother's wife, was nice enough to hold Tyler, so they could get in the pool at the same time. Brent is not a real pool person.

It was too fun to see the kiddos in their suits, and I had a cute little cover-up for Ashley, too. Here she is with her Aunt Karla.

It was a fun day for us, and I think the kids really enjoyed it, too.

Water Babies

My mom bought a little inflatable pool for her backyard, and we tried it out this weekend. Tyler and Ashley love it!!! Their cousin Athena...not so much. Both Tyler and Ashley splashed around in there and had a grand old time. This is the only picture that I have right now, but isn't little Ashley adorable!

As I said, poor Athena was not a fan. Her mom dipped her feet in and she curled up her face into the most pathetic cry. She tried her hands...same thing. I guess all three take after their moms. Karla isn't a big water fan either.

The Sitter and The Mover

I've noticed a pattern in most of the pictures that I've taken of Tyler and Ashley together lately.
Tyler is sitting,
and Ashley is on her belly.
It is so indicative of their little personalities. Tyler loves to just sit there...play with toys and check out the world. He doesn't want to lay down long. He wants to sit up. Ashley won't sit for more than a few seconds, she has to get down so that she can crawl around.

Snail Mail

You Know You Are a Mom of Twins When...

So, Ashley had a dirty diaper the other day. I left her brother happily bouncing in his Jumperoo in the living room and took her to the nursery to change it. Well, there was little explosion, making more than just her diaper dirty, so we had to do an entire outfit change. Meanwhile, Tyler decided that not only was he not happy in his Jumperoo, he, in fact, was extremely unhappy, or at least that is what I deduced from the screaming that ensued. I hurriedly put on Ashley's new outfit and came out to the living room. I put her down on the play mat. That's when I realized...
Both legs were in one pant leg. I laughed out loud, took this picture with my phone and texted it to Brent.

New Gear

Well, we've bought some new baby gear. With Tyler weighing 20 pounds, we knew it wouldn't be long until he outgrew his infant carrier (it only goes up to 22 pounds), so we decided to go ahead and make the switch to bigger car seats. Here's Ashley trying out Tyler's.
That also meant that it was time for a stroller upgrade. I love this new stroller!!!

Here we are getting ready for a cruise around Lake Hefner in it.

Last, but not least, I wanted to get a portable booster to feed at my mom's and elsewhere, so we tried this one out. I'm liking it, so I'm planning to buy a second.

I Never Know What I'm Going To Find

In the morning when I come into the nursery, it's not uncommon for Ashley to surprise me. She is usually laying in some strange position. Sometimes, I laugh out loud. Like this day...
There she was, and here's the view from the other angle. You can't quite make it out in the picture, but she is chewing on the crib bar.

But Tyler really made me laugh the other morning when I came in. I have no idea how he managed to get his arm out of that sleeve. We thought Ashley was our tiny Houdini, but maybe Tyler secretly is.
