Thunder Opening Night

Tonight was the big night...Oklahoma City's first NBA game with our own team.We were all there, Toby, Karla, Dad, Sherry, Brent and I. If you look closely in the background, you can see Blake Griffen. He happened to be sitting across the aisle from us.
I caught this awesome dunk by Kevin Durant. Unfortunately, these sorts of good plays by the Thunder were few and far between.

Ultimately, we lost by 11 points, which was actually quite a rally from our 20-something deficit.

Despite the loss, it was a ton of fun, and I am so happy that we have pro basketball here in Oklahoma City.

Gas Under $2

I can't believe that gas in OKC is under $2!

UN Party

Last night, we went to Toby and Karla's UN Party. Yes, I said UN party. Toby and Karla like to take the minor holidays and throw parties for them. Everyone has a 4th of July party, but not too many people have a Groundhog's Day party, but Toby and Karla did. Yesterday was UN Day, so Toby and Karla had a party. Everyone had to choose a country in the UN, bring a beverage from that country and optionally dress in the attire of that country. Toby claimed to be from Estonia. Pretty scary, huh? His coworkers were trying to get him to were the mohawk to work on Monday. I don't think Chesapeake is a mohawk kind of company.

Brent was Canada...scary thing is that the hat was the only piece of this outfit that Brent did not already own.

I was Jamaica. If you look very closely on the right side of my head, you can see the beaded braid. Fun times!

OSU vs. Baylor

Yesterday, Toby and Karla took us to Stillwater for the OSU - Baylor game, which also happened to be OSU's homecoming. We ate a yummy lunch at Hideaway before the game.

Even though Baylor lost pretty substantially, and it was hotter than expected giving us all sunburns, we did really enjoy the game.

Brent and I were slightly outnumbered in Baylor gear, but the Cowboy fans were really nice to us anyway. (We think it may have been pity.)

After the game, we ate a delicious dinner at Shortcake's. All in all, a good day.

Thursday Night at Mom's

Thursday night, we went over to my mom's. Some family friends of ours grilled us some delicious steaks. Here is their 7-month old son - Joe. He is too cute!!! And my mom is going to kill me for posting this one, but I thought it was hilarious. We had a nice steak dinner, and poor Tasha only got to lick the plates, and she wasn't even supposed to do that. :)

Thunder Preseason Game

Last night was the first and only home Thunder preseason game.
Brent and I came decked out in our "Thunderwear."

Here are Toby and Karla and Brent at halftime. My dad was in the row behind us for part of the game, and then he sat with a friend of hours whose tickets are right at midcourt.

During halftime, they had a trampoline slam dunk contest with some of the Thunder spirit guys and just some normal people. It was awesome! The Thunder guys did some impressive dunks, and I don't have any pictures of the "normal people," but some of them came pretty close to seriously injuring themselves. As Brent said, this was a lawsuit waiting to happen. But it was pretty funny.

Well, as you can see by the scoreboard, the Thunder didn't win, but it was still a lot of fun. Hopefully, the results will be better when we get to the regular season.

Backyard Olympics

Yesterday, we went B's (Ryan and Alex Buersmeyer's) party over at Alex's house (actually his brother Adam owns it, but Alex claims it as he pays a small amount of rent for his room). The day included football game watching, and "Backyard Olympics." The backyard had a variety of games set up, even one that Ryan invented involving two poles, two bottles and frisbee. I did not attempt that one. Alex grilled us up some burgers, which were actually pretty good. :)

All and all a fun party, and Brent and I even beat Toby and Karla at the bean bag toss game.
